Blazing a New Trail.

I am currently a law student at the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in Dallas, Texas, but I will soon be embarking on a new adventure in New York City. In the meantime, I'm left aloft without no firm footing in either location, making it a period ripe for introspection. As an attempt to evaluate my past choices and to prepare for future challenges, I have resolved to maintain a journal of my musings--or more aptly, ramblings. I believe that human enterprise relies on the free and open exchange of ideas. That said, I have decided to make public my journey.

You seek escape from pain. We seek the achievement of happiness. You exist for the sake of avoiding punishment. We exist for the sake of earning rewards. Threats will not make us function; fear is not our incentive. It is not death that we wish to avoid, but life that we wish to live.
— Ayn Rand

Broad Branches, Deep Roots.

What may seem contrary to outward appearances, I come from humble beginnings and try to maintain as much modesty as I can. From the small town of West, Texas, both of my parents worked hard to provide for our family. Their dedication and perseverance are values I cherish and aim to emulate. My family serves as a constant reminder that no matter how far I go, I'll always be that chubby kid from the Texas countryside.
